A little avocado tree

A few months back, after I ate a delicious avocado, I decided to look up how to grow an avocado tree from the pit. Lo and behold it was so simple (but it took quite a while...)! I used these instructions here which basically entails sticking toothpicks in the pit and keeping the bottom half submerged in water until the root starts to form. Some people seem to have luck with this happening in 2-3 weeks. Mine, however, took much longer - more like 2 months before the root really started to break through. But it was worth the wait!

After the root grew, I transplanted the pit to an outdoor pot. Then the growing really took off! It shot right up and leaves started sprouting!

And here it is today, much bigger and still growing!

While it will be years before any avocados will actually grow, it's really fun to watch the pit turn into a little tree. Keep it up little guy!

Hope you're having a lovely week!

Crafter's Block

I cannot believe that it's already mid-October. Seriously, how does time do that?! I'm panicking preparing for the SWEA Los Angeles Christmas Market that is just 8 weeks away! I'm stressing out because I am in a complete crafter's block stage. It's quite frustrating. I can't think of any new or fun craft ideas for this year's fair. While I don't necessarily need new crafts, it's what makes it fun for me each year.  So please help! What do you do to get out of a crafter's block? Any ideas?!

Weekday Dreaming

So you know those weeks where you totally had plans to go home from work, eat dinner, then get right to your long list of chores that you put off last weekend? Yeah, I was supposed to do that this week and I'll let you in on a little secret: it didn't happen. Unless wiping out on the couch and watching the rest of Harry Potter counts as doing chores, I definitely didn't get one productive thing done so far this week. Oops.

I have to say though, I think I'm OK with that. Sometimes in life it's nice to just have a little break... and obsessively pin things on your Pinterest. Here's what's been in my Pinterest boards lately:

These decorated gingerbread Dala ornaments.

These adorable socks with those adorable Swedish clogs.

This super cute Scandinavian wrapping idea that I probably would never have the patience to actually do, but it's still cute to look at.

And last, but not least, these canisters.

And that, my friends, has been my week so far in a nutshell. Not much, but it's been pretty great nonetheless. Hope your week is going well!

Dollar Tree Anniversary Celebration

This post has been sponsored by Dollar Tree. I was compensated for this post – however, all opinions remain my own.

I’m so excited to share about Dollar Tree’s Anniversary Celebration with you all today! It ends Saturday, October 11, so now’s the time to swoop up those sweet deals!

If you know me at all, you know that I love a good deal. And what’s so awesome about the Dollar Tree Anniversary event is that they are offering many of the same products but in larger sizes, and still just $1! What’s not to love?

I often swing by our local Dollar Tree to pick up random craft items and of course, Halloween candy in bulk. I like that they carry these awesome clear cellophane bags for just $1! I use them to package a lot of my craft items for craft fairs - so handy! They're also awesome if you want to make some party favor bags like these:

For more info, be sure to check out their website here. The celebration ends October 11!
